Summer 2025’s Nail Trends Include Cute Charms and Jelly Textures

Cheers to summertime! If you’re anything like us, you’re probably planning to hang out on a patio, a beach chair, or in your backyard with a good book, a great playlist, and a glass of something cold in your hand. And that hand needs a summer manicure to match! 

“Summer to me means gratification,” says Galdina Jimenez, OPI’s global education manager of trend. “It’s time to relax and enjoy life.” The season has a laid-back, optimistic attitude that makes you want to give the naked nails a break, bust out the brightest shades, and have a little fun with your mani. 

If you gravitate towards vivid cherry red, neon pink, and ultramarine blue come summertime—even if you typically wear Bubble Bath-adjacent shades the rest of the year—you’re not alone! “While I don’t think expression or fun should ever be limited to a season, summer nails have always felt more lighthearted and happy to me,” says Rita Remark, editorial manicurist and Essie global ambassador. “A little brighter, a little cheekier. An opportunity to try something a bit more out of your comfort zone.” This year, pros are feeling jelly textures, colorful ombrés, and fun nail charms.

They’re also feeling a little extra prep work to make sure your manicure or pedicure pops, especially since those nails and toes will be on full display all day, every day. “When your nails need to hold up to sunscreen, swimming, and sand, make sure you avoid any water for one hour prior to your mani,” advises Olivia Van Iderstine, trend expert and head of education at Olive & June. “Dehydrate your nail plate really well and ensure you’ve pushed back all your cuticles for a perfect polish canvas.” Von Iderstine also recommends thin coats, as summer heat can make thicker layers bubble. Make sure every coat has adequate time to dry for the best application possible.
