The Inspiration

According to the brand, this innovation was created in direct response to consumers wanting a non-aerosol version of their favorite dry shampoo. Batiste said “of course,” but didn’t stop there. They formulated four versions—Original, Bare, Brunette, and Volume—each boasting the power of *four* traditional aerosol cans in its travel-size package.

Original is that classic clean you know and love with a mandarin orange, rose, and lavender-forward scent, while Bare features a simple scent with notes of pomelo, passion fruit, hibiscus, and rose. Dark is tinted to blend nicely with dark hair, and Volume was made to add some oomph with and provide the fruity scents of apple, red berries, muguet, and musk.

The Formula

Batiste

Free from aerosols, parabens, talc, sulfates, phthalates, and silicones, Batiste’s formula is weightless and works to absorb oil and grease without buildup.

It comes in a TSA-friendly package with an easy-to-use, twist-to-control-output shaker cap for customizable application. You can target certain spots or use it all over the place, depending on your grease/volume situation.

Our Review

Bella Cacciatore

“I like to think of dry shampoos as a necessary evil in my routine. I hate how they make my hair feel, but since my hair is so greasy, they’re a must unless I want to wash everyday. I usually find powder formulas even more gritty and annoying than traditional sprays, so I was surprised by how much I liked this one! The powder is ultra fine, and a sprinkle or two—a little goes a long way—disappears right into my hair after a few brushes. It doesn’t make my hair feel just-washed, but it does a great job soaking up oil and giving me a little volume back without that chalky feeling. I also love the classic shampoo smell and the fact that the compact bottle is great for travel. Consider my mind changed.” —Bella Cacciatore, senior news editor
